SIMONE FRATER-RUSSELL - TEXTILE ARTIST

After having worked in the clothing industry for many years, I have begun to pursue my interest in textile art. I have experimented with traditional textile forms such as patchwork and quilting and have lately combined these techniques with embroidery and textile screen printing to express my focus on the nature of memory.

During 2016-17 I completed an MA in Embroidery at Manchester School of Art. I used this time to explore and research the theme of memory  using personal family photographs and key  theoretical texts concerned with the photographic image and the influence on our perception of memory.
